(Port) Wine of the month July 2023: Burmester Vintage Port Arnozelo 2021

I love surprises. In recent decades Burmester was known for elegant and rather early maturing Vintage Ports. Yes, I did exaggerate a bit, since Grahams Stone Terraces and Noval Nacional play in another Vintage- and financial league, but this Burmester Vintage Port really convinced me: Deep-dark red colour with violet reflections. Balanced fruity bouquet with floral and fresh aromas, mainly violet and cassis. Much more structure on the palate with perfectly integrated acidity and a fine and ripe tannic backbone. Long aftertaste. Even more surprising that this was declared as Single Quinta. 18/20
